Luxury Lifestyle Marina Set To Become New Destination On Phuket's Eastern Seaboard (28 Feb 2006)

The dream is becoming a reality. Royal Phuket Marina, Thailand's first world-class "luxury lifestyle marina" rivaling top resort communities in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, is proving a sensational hit with investors, yachtsmen and the local community on the "paradise island" of Phuket.

In their year and a half on the market, nearly all of the 66 condos and penthouses, in the first phase of the island's first 'high-end' residential marina, have been snapped-up by new residents and investors.

Meanwhile, the Fisherman's Wharf-style waterfront, which will eventually accommodate a variety of upmarket restaurants, bars and cafes - led by the opening of Les Anges, a gourmet patisserie setting the superb quality benchmark for the future of the boardwalk -- has set the standard for what is to come on Phuket's eastern seaboard.

As expected, Les Anges has proved an instant success for Peter Webber, who was formerly Executive Patissiere Chef at Bangkok's Oriental Hotel and earlier at The Savoy in London.

His boutique patisserie serving sublime cakes, pastries, coffees, homemade ice cream and chocolates, and freshly-baked breads, as well as customised wedding and anniversary cakes made to order, is a fabulous venue for coffee, lunch pies, quiches, sandwiches, salads and savoury tarts and offers a daily set menu for dinner.

Webber's 'Sunday Brunch on the Boardwalk' includes a superb all day a la carte menu and drinks are 2-4-1 during 'Sunset Hour', which is from 5:00pm to 7:00pm daily.

Fully operational and filled with a plethora of boats, Royal Phuket Marina is the only marina in South East Asia to offer private moorings at the doorsteps of residences. Other sophisticated offerings include a boat lock located in the inner marina (currently under construction) with a non-tidal deep water basin.

With over a hundred tropical island beaches just a short cruise away, year round sailing makes Phuket an even more attractive destination for avid yachtsmen.

Ensuring that every nautical adventure goes off without a hitch, Royal Phuket Marina's highly trained marina concierges provide many of the exceptional services offered at a five-star hotel. Owners and guests of the marina can enjoy morning newspaper delivery and fresh bread and croissants from Les Anges bakery. Meanwhile, picnic hampers and other provisions can also be delivered to boats and residences. The marina concierge will also assist with baggage and other errands, car rental and tours.

The marina has quickly established itself at the forefront of Phuket's yachting establishment, sponsoring the prestigious international King's Cup in December, as well as the 9th annual QBE Phang Nga Bay Regatta over Chinese New Year.

A partnership with The Cruising Club International called 'The Royal Phuket Marina Cruising Club' is the first Fractional Boat Ownership company in Thailand, offering the opportunity to own an equity percentage of a range of luxury power and sail boats, sharing purchase and maintenance costs through syndicated ownership. The cost is much less than owning a private vessel outright.

Asia's most sophisticated and high-tech yachting haven was even an award-winner before it officially opened, awarded the prestigious "Five Gold Anchor" by the Yacht Harbour Association, an arm of the British Marine Federation.

Five Gold Anchors is the highest of three honours a marina can earn in The Gold Anchor Award Scheme, which was established to improve the standard of facilities for boat owners worldwide and indicates the level of available facilities.

Raffles Marina in Singapore is the only other marina in Asia ranked in the top category.

The entire multi-million dollar Royal Phuket Marina project is due for completion in 2008, with a 5-star boutique hotel also included in longer-term plans.

The resort-style community is located on Phuket's eastern seaboard in Phang Nga Bay, only minutes away from the British Curriculum International School, all major golf courses and Phuket Town.

Royal Phuket Marina is the brainchild of telecom tycoon Gulu Lalvani, founder of Binatone, the world's second largest manufacturer of digital cordless phones.

With a new website at www.royalphuketmarina.com the marina is being marketed as an international brand and the developers are "confident that owners will see impressive capital appreciation in a short time frame".
